Prevention must be a priority: Kneipp Association criticizes massive underfunding

Statement of the Kneipp Association e.V. on the Prevention Report and Public Health Index 2025

Berlin/Bad Wörishofen, December 2025 – CLEAR IMBALANCE IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM – PREVENTION REMAINS ABSOLUTELY UNDERFUNDED WITH ONLY 0.2 PERCENT OF GKV EXPENDITURES.

“Almost nothing is spent on preventing diseases in our healthcare system,” explained Christina Haubrich, president of the Kneipp Association.

The association therefore calls for a structural turnaround: health must not only become a topic when illness occurs.
