A systematic review published in 2021 analyzed the scientific data on Kneipp therapy over two decades (2000–2019). The analysis, published in Complementary Medicine Research, evaluated 25 studies on the five pillars of Kneipp therapy.

The researchers found evidence of significant positive effects in several conditions, including chronic venous insufficiency, hypertension (high blood pressure), mild heart failure, sleep disorders, and menopausal symptoms. The conclusion: Kneipp therapy appears to be helpful for numerous symptoms. However, the authors call for future studies with improved methodology (e.g., more careful randomization and blinding) to more robustly demonstrate its effectiveness.
